MARS MISSION

SUMMARY:

The primary focus of this assignment involved researching the effects of space travel on human body systems, with Mars as a specific target for a mission instance. It is a fairly simple and straightforward research assignment that was meant for us to perceive how astronauts must prepare for space travel.​

REFLECTION:

Learning:

As an individual who is very interested in spacecraft design, understanding the considerations aerospace engineers must take in order to create a spacecraft that caters to the shortcomings of human body systems in space is something I need to learn now. So when I selected to learn about microgravity's effects on the digestive system, I was surprised to learn that the digestive system is not drastically affected by microgravity since it largely depends on peristalsis, which is independent of gravity. 

Improvements:

In regards to improvements, I would say the only area where I could seek to do more is be a lot more thorough with my research. I am genuinely interested by these types of topics, but I purposely restrain myself to keep on track with other matters in my life. After realizing this, I came to the understanding that I can't really call aerospace engineering my passion if I do not put forth the effort to learn more about my interests in tandem with everything else that is occurring in my life. I feel like if I am a lot more careful with time management, I will be able to reach my ambitions in life and my career much quicker.​
