This is likely to be the last official blog (at least as part of the Independent Study and Mentorship program) I type up, so I’d like to talk about recent events before going on to address this year holistically. I wish this could be longer, but thanks to AP exams being right around the corner, I need to be getting as much studying done as possible. Last Sunday I had my final presentation over Zoom, with family members, all of my engineering teachers, and even my mentor with his parents attending. I am proud to say that all of the practice I have had with increasingly longer presentations over the course of this past year paid off, and I managed to present with confidence. As a whole, I feel that I have come an extremely long way from the unknowing individual I was at the beginning of the school year, and the progress I made would never have been possible without the aid of both my ISM teacher, Ms. Secord, and my ISM mentor, Daniel Munden. I owe everything to those two for making the last year of my high school career much better than what it could have been. I identified that one of my greatest strengths is my drive to learn about what I love and that one of my greatest weaknesses is time management. When I start to attend college, I hope to hone on my strengths, reduce and potentially even eliminate my weaknesses, and by doing so, I believe I will be able to achieve the character growth I am aiming for as a lifelong goal. I started this year looking up at the stars with no idea of where I was headed in life and am now putting together the parts for the spacecraft that will take me far into the future; I can’t wait to see where it takes me.
