After conducting some background research into Fusion 360’s simulation software, I learned that its stress analysis program was the same as Inventor’s Nastran software, which Daniel had quite a bit of experience in. Thanks to Daniel’s detailed explanations and rapid perception of how to guide me in using Fusion 360’s interface, I gained a better understanding of not only how to utilize Fusion 360’s simulation software - accomplishing one of my main objectives for my final project - but also what it means to carefully analyze the structure of a spacecraft and how to model the conditions and stresses/strains it experiences upon reentry. Last week I mentioned that it looked like that I would have to give up having the ability to learn how to carry out thermal, aerodynamic, and vibration tests, but I discovered at my most recent mentor meeting that since I have an educational license for using Fusion 360, I have unlimited access to carrying out simulations, despite the message stating that I have 5 total uses for simulations. At the moment I am undeniably behind when it comes to some of the documentation I wish to submit alongside my official product. However, I really want to prioritize making the space capsule itself as realistic as possible. Although I could realistically make some concessions for my own physical and mental well-being I feel that I would indefinitely regret not following through with my bold claims in my final product proposal. The deadline for the final product is right around the corner and I know what I have to do; all that is left to do is keep moving forward.
