This week was a great break from other interferences in my work, especially since all of my college applications have been submitted. I was proud of my achievement of starting to work on my original work. Simply organizing my materials to prepare for writing my book took more time than I would like to admit it took me; not because of orderliness, but because of the dispersed nature of the materials that I was seeking to incorporate into my work. I am aware that others have already achieved a great deal of progress in regards to their original work, and since my original work is estimated to have a large time commitment (significantly more than the minimum required), I must push myself to beat the odds if I wish to take pride in the effort and time I commit to working on my original work. I still feel that time management is something that I can improve, which is why I am revising my daily work schedule bit by bit. Although I have already completed the minimum of three research interviews required for the Independent Study and Mentorship Program, I am seeking to interview as many professionals since mentor selection is rapidly approaching. A family friend of mine who graduated from UT Austin has given me a list of twelve potential contacts employed in the field of aerospace engineering who I hope to add to the list of people who could potentially be my mentors. I have already contacted two of them and confirmed appointments. While I am aware there may not be time for reaching out to all of them, I want to continue to build my network of contacts. In order to do so alongside my Independent Study and Mentorship weekly work and schoolwork, I will need to further cultivate my organizational and time management skills. As the research speech is rapidly approaching, my interpersonal skills will need to be polished as well so that I can establish my presence in the professional world as an up-and-coming aerospace engineer.
